The Southwest Minnesota Arts Council board met Aug. 23 and awarded a total of $49,215 in grant funds to eight organizations and a total of $2,000 to two individual artists. The following organizations received funding:

The Southwest Minnesota Arts Council is hosting its annual Celebrate Art & Artists Day Saturday, Sept. 24, in Appleton, Minnesota.

The day features a tour of grant-funded art locations around Appleton including the 52 Wing Mural, Appleton City Park mosaic benches, window murals and the many rooms of the Appleton Art & Culture Center. 

Guests are welcome to visit the Valley Dance District where they can experience what a class is like and to view the large second-story dance studio.

Beginning at 4 p.m. is happy hour with a cash bar on the main floor of the Valley Dance District. Followed by SMAC's annual meeting and awards ceremony for Prairie Star John Sterner and Prairie Disciple Melanie Loy. Dinner is prepared by Plazita Mexican restaurant.
